We were shown to a traditional Japanese-style room at Hakusan-tei, and the view was great. The open-air baths alternate between men and women; one side features a rock bath and a cypress bath, while the other has a rock bath and a small, round prefabricated tub. It was nice that we were able to use both. Dinner was a half-buffet style; the buffet section included braised beef tendon, maitake mushroom tempura, rice, pickles, and dessert. On the other hand, there were some points of concern. The cleanliness of the room left something to be desired, as I noticed cobwebs in the corners, grime under the sink faucet, and peeling wallpaper, among other things.
